Rollin on the River Campout. August 26th-27th.

It’s still the wolf days of summer, so join me for a camping trip before it ends.   We will be riding along some of my favorite cycling roads in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  We’ll explore some quiet back roads of Morris, Sussex, and Warren and Northampton counties with views of farms and cornfields, many old mills, water wheels, tunnels and viaducts.  We might even ride part of the Paulinskill trail for a few miles.  We’ll take a break at Brook Hollow Winery and sample the most refreshing Merlot slushy.

Walking over a pedestrian only bridge as we cross the Delaware River is also a special treat.

Our destination will be the Driftstone campsite.  This is a private campground with a swimming pool and river access.

The ride back will be just as scenic.  It will start with a short climb and then a breakfast stop in Belvidere.  There will be plenty of sights to be seen.  We’ll check out some old gas stations, river powered generators, big trees and some more quiet back roads where the corn will be tall  ready for harvest.

Ride will be approx. 50 miles each way.

This ride is self-supported.  If anybody is interested in being car support, contact me.

Meet up at the clock tower in Denville at 8:45am with kickstands up at 9 sharp.

Birdman for three.
